Chefs On TV
Dallas father-and-son chef team will try to beat Bobby Flay on TV
There'll be more Dallasites on reality TV when a pair of chefs appears on a Food Network competition show.
This is a father-and-son duo, Beto and Julian Rodarte, who are owners and chefs at Beto and Son, the Mexican restaurant at Trinity Groves.
According to a release, the duo will put their cooking skills to the test versus Bobby Flay on the Food Network show Beat Bobby Flay.
The episode will air on Thursday, October 18 at 9 pm.
The episode pits father versus son in some friendly family competition. In the first round, Beto and Julian will compete against each other with the winner moving on to the next round to compete against Bobby Flay.
That's a twist.
Previous DFW chefs who've competed against Bobby Flay include Tim Love, the Fort Worth chef and owner of restaurants such as Lonesome Dove. Love is a formidable chef, and yet he did not win. Bobby gotta win.
Although Houston chef Kevin Naderi, chef-owner of Montrose neighborhood restaurant Roost, did win his round against Flay when he appeared on the show in 2016.
In this case, maybe two against one will prevail.
Beto and Son is hosting a party on October 18 to watch the episode. The restaurant will air the show in the bar and on a giant TV screen on the patio at 9 pm. Seats are available on a first come, first served basis.
