New Dallas restaurant Cafe Nubia opens with unexpected combo of 2 cuisines
A new Dallas restaurant is now open with an unexpected pairing of two fabulous cuisines: Called Cafe Nubia, it's a fusion of both Mediterranean and African cuisines, and is now open in North Dallas at 3920 Rosemeade Pkwy #100, in a space that's been home to an array of concepts such as Chandelier Pocha, Prime Time Bar & Grill, Casablanca Cantina & Grill, Reservoir Bar & Grill, and Lena's 190.
In a release, co-owner Kenechi “KC” Nnamani says they're up for the challenge with a unique dining experience plus hookah, live music, and DJ on the weekends.
“For nearly two decades, I’ve envisioned bringing this unique fusion and lounge concept to Dallas and can’t think of a better time than now to finally open the restaurant,” Nnamani says. “From the decor to the ambiance and carefully crafted menu, all the details were selected to provide locals with a dining experience you’ll only find at Café Nubia.”
Executive chef is Gerardo Herrera, whose 25-plus years in the restaurant industry include favorites such as Haywire in Plano and Ali Baba in Las Colinas. He was also executive sous chef for owner Jerry Jones’ suite during Dallas Cowboys football games at the AT&T Stadium.
Menu items include starters such as Beef Suya, Crispy Falafel, and Mezza Plate.
Entrees include lamb chops, oxtail, and cauliflower steak with sides such as jollof rice, a staple West African dish, smashed potatoes, and grilled seasonal vegetables. The food looks pretty great on their Instagram page.
They did a soft opening in mid-February and are now open for dinner Wednesday–Sunday from 4–11 pm, as well as lunch but lunch is only through online delivery or pickup with menu items such as lamb sliders, chicken shawarma, and steak salad.
Weekend brunch runs from 11 am-3 pm with chicken shawarma, Nubian chicken & waffles, Nubian omelet, and mimosa carafes. Cocktails include the Nubian Margarita, Honey Love with edible glitter, and Zobo Old-Fashioned.
The restaurant transforms into a lounge at nighttime with hookah on the patio, a DJ, live music, and bottle service on weekends.
The 5,000-square-foot restaurant has seating for 200, with private booths, a full bar and coastal-inspired patio with murals and Instagrammable photo opportunities.
