Innovative coffeeshop-boutique hybrid to debut at Work/Shop near Addison
There's a cool new shop coming to the Work/Shop mixed-use development near Addison, offering an innovative twist on the usual convenience store. Called Local Jonny's, it's a modern general store and coffee concept that will occupy a 982-square-foot space at 5471 Belt Line Rd. #140 in late fall.
Local Jonny's is from husband and wife Jon and Lauren Glover, who've been working in the corporate sector and are launching this as their first entreprenteurial venture. Their mission is to shake up your idea of the traditional convenience store. We're talking hip design, local artisan-made treasures, a coffee program, name-brand snacks, and modern sundries.
Customers can look forward to top-of-the-line items like Taco Deli tacos, LaCasita Bakeshop baked goods, Ranger Station candles, Rifle Paper Co. supplies, and more.
"Local Jonny’s came from our own need of a neighborhood staple that was hip, modern, and supplied the community with convenience," Jon Glover says in a statement. "There are plenty of corner stores in the area, but nothing that provides visitors with a fun environment, unique goods, and a twist on regular, everyday necessities."
The coffee program will be serious but it's not just a coffeeshop, Glover says. It's like a cross between a coffee shop, a bodega, and a boutique.
"We're passionate about coffee, but the focus is evenly across the other elements including a selection of grab-and-go food, snacks, drinks, and a small gifts section," he says.
He says they've been toying around with the idea for a while. It goes without saying that he is the Jonny in Local Jonny's.
"We've always liked visiting boutiques, coffee shops, locally owned places, and thought it would be fun to do something on our own," he says. "We've created something that's original and felt like there was a market for it in North Dallas."
Developed by Texas-based Triten Real Estate Partners, Work/Shop at 5455 Belt Line Rd., right on the boundary of Addison and Dallas but actually in Dallas proper, is being renovated into a unique destination with retail shops, restaurants, entertainment venues, and offices, and is scheduled to open in the fall. Triten Real Estate partner John Hardaway says in a statement that they strive to showcase local businesses and entrepreneurs like Local Jonny's.
"This modern convenience store caters to our on-site employees and the neighborhood at large," Hardaway says. "Imagine being able to knock out your daily errand run without the drive and traffic, all while buying local in the process."
In addition to Local Jonny’s, other Work/Shop on-site retail will include Toastique; EVO Entertainment offering movies, bowling, and games; San Martin Artisan Bakery and Restaurant; My Eye Dr, Crisp & Green; and Mesero; with more concepts being announced within the upcoming months.
