Glam Asian restaurant Musume now serving sushi at Star in Frisco

Musume
Sushi has returned to The Star in Frisco via Musume, the Asian restaurant from Dallas-based Rock Libations Restaurant Group, now open at 3625 The Star Blvd #315 on the 2nd floor, taking a 6,000-square-foot space that used to be Sushi Marquee, which closed in January 2025.
Musume, which means “daughter” in Japanese, is part of the Rock Libations restaurant group owned by Dallas locals Josh Babb and Sean Clavir. It'll be open for lunch, happy hour, and dinner, with a large selection of sake and Japanese whisky.
Food
Musume’s executive chef is Yuzo Toyama, a native of Shizuoka, Japan with 20+ years’ experience in traditional Japanese culinary arts.
The menu features sushi and sashimi, small and large plates, vegetarian and vegan. It features salads, tempura, ramen, and six- or eight-course omakase by chef Yuzo Toyama.
Menu items include:
- Fire & Ice, chilled oysters with apple-ginger granita with baked miso-parmesan oysters
- Short Rib Wontons, served with smoked soy broth, white truffle, and chili crisp
- Black & Gold Roll, combining yellowtail teriyaki, shrimp, cucumber, and fig, finished with black truffle aioli
- Sashimi Flatbread, a crispy crust spread with sun-dried tomato and truffle paste and topped with yellowtail, tuna, and salmon
- Lobster Fried Rice, featuring tempura-battered, cold-water lobster with habanero jelly, thai basil, and spring vegetables
A special lunchtime menu has clever items such as a cheesy bulgogi cheesesteak and karaage chicken tacos.
A $12 happy hour-style menu served in the lounge and patio Sunday-Thursday from 2-7 pm has dishes designed for sharing including blackened tuna tacos, handrolls, and tofummus which they explain is "tofu-based vegetarian hummus". Maybe calling it "tofu hummus" is too pedestrian. But at least then you'd avoid the confusion over the pronunciation of that "u": Do you go with the hard u of tofu, and pronounce it "toe-foo-mus"? Or do you go with the soft u of hummus and it's "toe-fah-mis"?
Drinks
Musume at The Star claims to be home to North Dallas’ largest selection of premium sake with more than 120 labels and a lineup of 60-plus Japanese whisky options. Acclaimed mixologist Gabe Sanchez crafted an Asian-inspired cocktail menu, with notable cocktails such as the Ube Painkiller and The Black Swan Martini.
Decor
Dining areas include a private Tatami room with sunken seating for intimate 12-person gatherings, two bars (inside & outside) with bar seating + lounge space, a 9-seat seat sushi bar, custom sake displays, zen lighting, moss and tree installations, “floating” banquettes, sake millwork, warm wood accents, and chiseled stonework. Thematic restrooms — Midnight in Tokyo, Sensual Sento, and Animal Instincts — were also integrated to add an element of surprise and intrigue. There's a 20x10-foot art installation created by artist Zeb Smith, a 15-year-old freshman at Booker T. Washington High School who suffers from metastatic cancer.
“We’re thrilled to unveil Musume at The Star and invite the local community to dine and drink with us,” Babb says. “From the exclusive new menu items and fresh fish flown in daily to our unparalleled collection of sake and Japanese whisky, every detail has been designed to provide guests with an exceptional Japanese culinary experience.”
