Dallas seafood guy to open casual American restaurant for Park Cities moms
Busy busy Dallas restaurateur Jon Alexis is opening another new restaurant. Called Ramble Room, it'll open in Snider Plaza at 6565 Hillcrest Ave. #150, in the Hilltop Plaza, taking over a space previously occupied by The Biscuit Bar, which closed in 2021.
According to a release, Ramble Room will open in spring 2023.
Alexis is well known as the owner of TJ's Seafood Market and Malibu Poke. In November, he did a stretch when he opened Escondido Tex-Mex, a Tex-Mex restaurant at Preston-Royal.
Now, with Ramble Room, he'll tackle what he calls in a statement "approachable American cuisine."
"We wanted to do a style of restaurant that my friends as well as my parents would enjoy, wrapped in old school hospitality with no pretense and an incredibly welcoming atmosphere ... somewhere our guests can dine a few times a week," he says.
No details yet on the menu but the release shares the following theme and decor notes:
- designed to be an all-day space
- casual but stylish interior
- dramatic high ceilings and glass windows
- crackling patio fireplace
- personal lamps at every booth
- seating for 75 in dining room
- seating for 50 on the patio
- seating for 25 in the bar
A second floor mezzanine will be available for large parties and guests hosting private events. Here's a great quote about Park Cities moms:
“When my wife and 15 other moms want to go out, it’s nearly impossible to find a space in the Park Cities,” Alexis says. “We want to be the go-to for large bookings in the neighborhood.”
He calls it a very personal project, stating, "not only did I grow up in the area, my wife and kids lived 2 blocks from Snider Plaza. All our neighbors wanted to enjoy a place like Ramble Room but it didn’t exist. So we created it.”
