Can't decide whether to spend your hard-earned money on tickets to the symphony or the NFL? You're in luck. Before the Dallas Cowboys kickoff against those dastardly Washington Redskins on Thanksgiving Day, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra performs the National Anthem.
The occasion marks the first time the DSO will play at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Ann Wilson, lead singer of Heart, will accompany the symphony in an original arrangement of “The Star-Spangled Banner” created by Gary Fry.
“We are very excited to join the Cowboys, another great North Texas institution, and Ann Wilson to honor America on the field of the state-of-the-art Cowboys Stadium on Thanksgiving Day, and to introduce our orchestra to a new and different fan base,” DSO president and CEO Jonathan Martin said in a statement.
The DSO is led by music director Jaap van Zweden, one the world's most sought-after conductors. He has been in Dallas since 2008.
