Smartphone Photo Mastery
How to win a fabulous Four Seasons vacation with your iPhone camera
You, me and your 80-year-old grandmother take photos with iPhones or the plethora of other smartphones on the market. Not all of them are winners, but if you think you're especially skilled at using your smartphone camera, the Four Seasons hotels in Texas want to reward you.
Starting June 3, the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas, Four Seasons Hotel Austin and Four Seasons Hotel Houston will be giving away more than $18,000 in prizes for the best pictures submitted in their Capture Texas photo contest.
The only directive given is to "capture and share the unique charms of the Lone Star state," which pretty much leaves it wide open as to what kind of picture you think will best fit that description. And, yes, for those of you who love to use sepia tone, Instagram pictures are allowed.
Contestants will then use Twitter to submit their photo to their closest Four Seasons location — @FSDallas for Four Seasons Dallas — along with the hashtag #CaptureTX. All entries for the contest, which ends June 30, will be winnowed down to 30 on July 8, at which point the voting will be turned over to the public.
Each of the 30 finalists will receive an overnight stay at a Four Seasons in Texas, and the winner of the public vote will get a three-night stay at any Four Seasons in the continental U.S., along with airfare, $500 and other prizes.
So take the iPhone off your dinner plate at the fancy restaurant and aim it at Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, wildflowers or any of the innumerable other Texas beauties. You could win a nice summer vacation.
