The Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love is a bit like a Choose Your Own Adventure story. In addition to a stellar lineup of musicians, the boutique festival in Marfa, Texas, offers an array of hands-on workshops, art displays, trendy vendors, family-style meals, and outdoor activities to make your experience one of a kind.

The festival takes place September 24-27 on the groovy campgrounds of El Cosmico under the West Texas Sky. Here's a quick guide to the magical weekend.

Listen
The festival traditionally honors Americana and folk music, but the lineup is constantly evolving to include other indie acts. Big names this year include Jenny Lewis, Portugal. The Man, Ben Kewller, David Garza, Phosphorescent, and Mexican Institute of Sound. You'll also find Meshell Ndegeocello, Langhorne Slim, Tift Merritt, Rumba Shaker, and more on the bill.

Eat
If you want to dig in to the full camping experience, we suggest that you bring your own provisions. However, a sweet selection of food trucks can also be found on site. Frank, Food Shark, and Jo's Coffee will be on hand during peak grub times, and Salsa Puedes will be available for dinner. You can also sign up for a seat at a delicious pig roast supper or a Sunday breakfast complete with Bloody Marys and music from Robert Ellis.

Drink
Fortunately for festival-goers, there will be a bevy of beer, wine, and other drinks for sale. Beverage partners include Tito's Vodka, Shiner Beer, TX Blended Whiskey, Topo Chico, and Jo's Coffee. On top of that, the folks from Half Step will be stirring up mocktails during vendor pop-ups.

Shop
Texas faves such as Charm School Vintage, Feathers x Alchemy, and Traveller Denim Co. and will be at the festival to showcase some of their trendiest designs. There will also be representatives from across the country offering everything from up-cycled hats to collectible art to vintage items. A unique pop-up on Friday will bring in additional vendors that specialize in jewelry, textiles, and more.

Learn
One of the coolest parts about the Trans-Pecos Festival is the multitude of hands-on workshops. You can learn a variety of new skills while you're out enjoying the West Texas vibe, like how to craft your own liqueurs, screen print T-shirts, cook in a dutch oven, make bolo ties, and cast a lasso.

Explore
Marfa is arguably one of the coolest small towns in Texas, and one of the hippest art communities in the entire U.S. Venture off festival grounds and explore the many art galleries, restaurants, and shops around the city.

Three-day passes to Trans-Pecos Festival are $165. Accommodations at El Cosmico are sold out, but the $220 package allows you to bring your own gear and camp on site. Admission to additional workshops and events varies.
