    Airport News

Detours are coming to DFW Airport in big re-do of terminal exits

    DFW Airport

Travelers headed to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport have some adjustments in the wings. The International Parkway Project is transitioning access into Terminals A, B and C into right-hand exits from International Parkway, and is now hitting the next phase of construction: demolishing the "flyover" bridge into Terminal B and completing the connection of the new bridge into the terminal’s roadways.

This work is scheduled to begin the first week of August, and will require changes to traffic flow, including detours into Terminal B and when exiting Terminal A. This is expected to last approximately 90 days, and they're implementing "robust" detour signage to warn airport visitors.

Once it's done, customers will access Terminal B via a new right-hand exit from International Parkway. This is the first of three similar construction phases, each to last approximately 90 days with various detours and closures in effect. After Terminal B, they'll do the connection of the new bridge into Terminal A, then Terminal C.

    Be prepared
With "historic" construction activity taking place across the airport’s roads and terminals, customers are encouraged to travel more prepared than ever before. That means:

    • Arrive early for your flight: Regardless of departure time or terminal, DFW recommends arriving at the airport at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights.
    • Download the DFW Airport mobile app for tools to navigate the airport, including live parking availability, security wait times, and construction updates.
    • Prebook parking. Travelers can save time and money in the app with prebook parking.
    • Sign up for updates regarding the ongoing construction.

Additional updates for travelers, project details and construction news can also be found at dfwairport.com/construction.

    Project background
Transitionioning to right-hand access into Terminals A, B, and C will provide a more intuitive traffic flow and enhanced driving experience with better wayfinding and access to the terminals. They've done their best to minimize impact: The upcoming closures and detours are needed for a fraction of the time that would be needed if the airport were to replace the existing 50-year-old bridges built over International Parkway.

All three new bridges have been worked on during the past year with minimal impact to customers and the airport’s 24/7 operation due to the project’s strategic design and tactical phasing of overnight construction. The upcoming closures were planned to coincide with the typical dip in passenger traffic following the peak summer travel season.

It's all part of DFW Forward, the airport’s $12 billion capital plan to plan for the future with upgrades and expansions across DFW’s terminals, airfield, and roadway infrastructure.

    The detours are as follows:

Detour: Arriving to Terminal B – From the South
Beginning August 6, Terminal B will only be accessible via the southbound entrance into the terminal from International Parkway. Customers arriving from the south, headed northbound through the airport, will be required to travel northbound past all terminal entrances and take the left-hand U-turn exit before the North Exit Plaza to return to southbound International Parkway. Then, customers will take the existing left-hand exit to Terminal B and keep left for temporary access into the terminal. Detour signage will be in place to guide traffic.

Detour: Arriving to Terminal B – From the North
Customers arriving from the north will continue to take the existing left-hand exit to Terminal B; however, traffic will then keep left for a slightly different path into the terminal. To assist with traffic flow during this time, customers entering the terminal area through the North Entry Plaza are encouraged to follow visual cues for lane designation by terminal.

Detour: All Traffic to Exit Terminal A to the North
Beginning August 3, all customers exiting Terminal A to return to International Parkway will be directed to the North Exit. Customers seeking a southbound exit from the terminal area can take the left-hand U-turn before the North Exit Plaza to return southbound on International Parkway.

    SPRING FEVER

Popular Texas city named cheapest U.S. destination for spring break 2026

Destinations like the River Walk make San Antonio and attractive — and cheap — spring break destination.

Got your sights set on an inexpensive spring break getaway? You may want to consider a road trip to San Antonio.

A new study from digital entertainment platform JB.com ranks the Alamo City as the country’s cheapest spring break destination for students.

The study, which covers 30 popular U.S. cities, looks at average nightly prices at budget hotels, the average tab for meals and drinks, and the number of bars and restaurants. The study also takes into account a city’s average March-April temperatures and its safety rating.

“The biggest mistake students make is booking spring break trips to the same five cities everyone else picks,” says JB.com. “When 50,000 college kids flood Fort Lauderdale in the same week, prices skyrocket, and everything gets crowded.”

San Antonio stands out in two categories: average nightly price at budget hotels ($87) and average meal cost ($18).

JB.com also cites San Antonio’s pleasant weather, “making it comfortable to enjoy the outdoors before the nightlife starts,” and its “growing food scene,” boasting more than 1,900 bars and restaurants.

Although the JB's rankings were centered on collegiate life, it is also one of Texas' hot spots for grade schoolers thanks to amusement parks like Six Flags Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld San Antonio. The popularity makes it an attractive city for limited-time activations, like the massive Epic Bounce inflatable theme park.

Big-city neighbor to the north, Austin, appears at No. 8 on the top 10 list. It scores well in the average-meal-price category ($20) and the bar-and-restaurant category (more than 5,300 establishments). However, Austin’s average drink price ($7) and average nightly price at budget hotels ($94) are on the high side.

While there are many great spots around Texas for a spring break getaway, Dallasites might want to just avoid the highway and airport hassles and enjoy some top-notch local events and activities - there are a lot of them.
