Luxury boutique hotel to debut in buzzy Harwood District near downtown Dallas
New hotel coming to the Harwood District.
Harwood International, the developer that has created an entire village near downtown Dallas, is adding a boutique hotel: Called Hôtel Swexan, it’ll be a 22-story modern tower with 134 rooms, opening in the company’s 19-block Harwood District in summer 2023.
A release explains that the name Hôtel Swexan stands for “Swiss meets Texan,” and is inspired by the multi-generational Swiss-Texan family heritage of Harwood's founders.
It's the third building in the Harwood District designed with renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, and features a mirrored structure exemplifying Kuma’s philosophy that buildings should enrich the connection between architecture and its surrounding landscape.
Interior architectural details are inspired by a 19th-century Parisian residence-turned-hotel, with comfortable yet elegant furniture and intricate, hand-carved stone and wooden fireplaces on every floor of the hotel.
A grand foyer will serve as a backdrop for unique artworks that will change year-round. A lobby lounge featuring warm lighting, masculine leathers, carved millwork walls, plank wood ceilings, and wood parquet floors will be open day to night.
The lobby will include three dining experiences:
- all-day high tea and martini bars
- a dimly-lit two-story library cocktail bar
- a hidden underground lounge
Guest rooms will have a residential feel, featuring five-fixture baths and floor-to-ceiling windows, offering sweeping views of the Dallas skyline. The hotel includes 10 suites; six on a dedicated grand premier suite floor and four additional suites, which include two premier garden balcony suites.
A rooftop infinity-edge swimming pool spanning 75 feet will come with upholstered chaise loungers and VIP cabanas. It'll be a Moroccan, Boho-style space with a pool bar as well as a sit-down dining concept.
The sixth floor will hold a grand event space with classic Corinthian details, including floor-to-ceiling white millwork walls, marble floors, custom brass chandeliers, and antique hand-carved fireplaces.
There'll be a total of 12,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including two grand ballrooms and three private meeting rooms for meetings, exhibition shows, wedding ceremonies, receptions, and special celebrations.
The seventh floor will host a private social club and the property’s signature restaurant, a steakhouse called Stillwell’s, which will be open for dinner nightly.
The eighth floor is home to a wellness and fitness center with views and an outdoor patio that doubles the space for yoga, bootcamps, and outdoor activities. The locker areas offer separate wet and dry saunas for men and women.
In a statement, Harwood marketing director Jessica Young Reid predicts that its exquisite design, exceptional location, and nod to the company's heritage will introduce "a new level of style and distinctive Swiss-inspired luxury."
“We believe the hotel will add a vibrance to the community, which has always been central to our company’s mission," Reid says. "We hope the space will become a best-loved culinary, cultural, and nightlife destination right in the heart of Harwood District."
