2015 Dallas International Film Festival: Western

For generations the neighboring towns of Eagle Pass, Texas and Piedras Negras, Mexico lived “in paradise”. People from each town would cross back and forth regularly for work or play. As cartel violence grows in the area, the lives of those along the Rio Grande begins to change drastically.

The Ross Brothers return to DIFF with their powerful and striking portrait of two border towns and the particular struggles of a cowboy and lawman. Martín’s livelihood depends on bringing cattle across the border to market, which is threatened by the border closing. Eagle Pass Mayor Chad Foster tries to calm the community’s anxiety and promote peace as darkness and danger looms.

The Ross Brothers’ signature verité style beautifully captures the moments that make this frontier so vibrant. An intimate and immersive experience, Western will stay with you long after the film ends.
