Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra presents Philharmonic and Wind Symphony

The GDYO will present two of its advanced ensembles in concert. Comprised of approximately 94 members, high school seniors or younger, the Philharmonic is a full symphony orchestra. Under the direction of James Frank, the orchestra will perform Otto Nicolai’s Overture from “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” Edvard Grieg’s Four Norwegian Dances, and Aaron Copland’s Buckaroo Holiday from “Rodeo.”

The Wind Symphony is an advanced symphonic ensemble of 55 to 62 wind, brass and percussion players who are high school seniors or younger. Under the direction of Dr. Nicholas Williams, the ensemble will perform Ryan George’s An Gé Fhiáin (The Wild Goose), Morton Gould’s Hymnal (on “We Shall Overcome,” and John Mackey’s The Frozen Cathedral.
