In its second year, The State Fair Showdown is a classic game that brings two historically Black colleges and universities, Texas Southern University and Southern University from the Southwestern Athletic Conference, together to play in the historic Cotton Bowl Stadium during the State Fair of Texas.
Lone Star Sports' goal is to provide students with unique opportunities for exposure beyond their usual sphere of influence. During the week they have participating teams visit AT&T Stadium, local Dallas universities, and landmarks to show them the opportunities and resources available to them after graduation. This year marks the second year of the State Fair Showdown. The game will take place during the last weekend of the State Fair of Texas. They are in partnership with the Dallas Sports Commission and State Fair of Texas staff to ensure its success for years to come and promote Dallas as the ideal site for all sporting events and relocating after college.
