Ponchaveli Gallery presents “Art Power Respect,” an art gala and exhibit curated by renowned muralist Theo Ponchaveli. The art gala features 17 of Dallas most esteemed artists in mixed mediums including local favorites Jerod “Dtox” Davies, Iris Candelaria,Jody Pham, Desmond Blair and new works from Theo Ponchaveli himself.

Participating artists include Desmond Blair, JC Barba, Riley Holloway, LaShonda Cooks, Erika Krivda, Iris Candelaria, Margarita Barrantes, Antolin Pineda, Brenton Black, Monica Moody, Jody Pham, Jerod DTOX, C Ray, Trey Wilder, Florintino, and Theo Ponchaveli.

Critically-acclaimed artist Fulton Washington, who happens to also be Ponchaveli's uncle, will be a special guest and the evening's keynote speaker. Compton-based Fulton Leroy Washington a.k.a. Mr Wash is a self-taught artist with the unique ability to express human emotions in the form of paintings. Wrongfully convicted in 1997 for a non-violent drug offense, he learned and refined his craft while serving a life sentence reluctantly handed down by a judge due to mandatory minimums. After 21 years of imprisonment in federal prison, Mr Wash was granted clemency by President Obama after word of his most recent paintings depicting Mr. Wash sitting at the table with the Obama and Bureau Of Prisons administrations negotiating his release in the spirit and likeness of the Emancipation Proclamation. Mr. Washington was released from prison after 20 years 3 week’s later in 2016.
