Dallas police officer arrested for allegedly raping woman while on duty
Dallas police have released disturbing allegations against one of their own. Officer La'Cori Johnson was arrested January 28 for a sexual assault that allegedly occurred while Johnson was on duty.
According to limited information provided by the Dallas Police Department's Public Integrity Unit, Johnson stopped a woman in the 9300 block of Larga Drive on September 9, 2013. Johnson then told her she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest but he'd refrain from taking her to jail if she had sex with him.
Police say Johnson forced her to have sex with him in the backseat of his squad car. She reported the incident to Dallas police on October 4, and Johnson was placed on administrative leave the same day.
A native of Atlanta, Johnson played wide receiver for the Mustangs SMU football team and graduated in 2008. He joined the Dallas police force in April 2009 and was assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division.
After questioning from Internal Affairs detectives on January 28, Johnson resigned, was arrested and taken to the Dallas County Jail for processing. He is being held on a $25,000 bond.
