Celebrity Tour Alert
Anthony Bourdain cuts through Dallas on unapologetic new tour
Unfiltered TV host and best-selling author Anthony Bourdain is on the road again, this time for his Close to the Bone tour. Of the 10 cities on his list, three are in Texas.
The tour launches July 7 in Nashville, then it cuts through Texas with stops in Houston (July 8 at Jones Hall), Austin (July 9 at Bass Hall) and Dallas (July 10 at Majestic Theatre). He closes out the tour on July 30 in Chicago.
Bourdain promises to give audiences more than they see on TV. “I want to open the book on what I’ve learned seeking the road un-traveled – more than I get to show you on television,” he said in a release. Expect “unyielding, brutally honest monologue reflecting on diverse culture, street cuisine and his travels to lesser-known locations around the world,” plus a Q&A session.
Following the show at the Majestic, VIP ticketholders can attend a reception at the Dallas Museum of Art (Bourdain’s stop is part of the DMA’s Arts & Letters Live series), featuring food from Cafe Momentum, a restaurant Bourdain himself selected.
Bourdain is no stranger to Texas: For his No Reservations, he ate his way through Austin with BBQ Snob and Texas Monthly barbecue editor Daniel Vaughn.
A former professional chef, Bourdain is best known as author of the candid Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly. His other books include the travel journal A Cook’s Tour, the nonfiction Medium Raw and the bestselling graphic novel Get Jiro! The sequel to the latter, titled Get Jiro: Blood and Sushi, will be published in October 2015.
Bourdain currently is filming the CNN original series Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown. Season five premieres Sunday, April 26.
Pre-sale for the Close to the Bone tour starts April 7. Tickets to the general public go on sale April 17. Get more info at www.AnthonyBourdainOnTour.com.
