Casting aside rumors of an affair, Vera Wang concentrates on the shape of things to come
Vera Wang is on the move. If designing bridal gowns, a namesake ready-to-wear collection, several lower-priced lines for Kohl's and chic skating costumes for Olympic skaters isn't enough, Wang recently revealed she plans to create outfits for the Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders.
Is there anything she can't do?

Her latest collection, unveiled before a celebrity-studded audience at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, ranged from severe cocoon-shaped creations with exaggerated armholes, voluminous shapes and color-block panels to delicate brocade evening attire that incorporates origami folds, pleated peplums and lace insets.

Nearly every design features eye-catching shapes and designs that flare out at architectural angles. Yet the look isn't too severe, because everything has a lightness of being with Wang's deft touch.
Celebrities on the front row included Jada Pinkett Smith, John Legend, Christine Baranski, Renee Fleming and Evan Lysacek — the 27-year-old Olympic gold medal figure skater who has been linked romantically to the 63-year-old Wang.
In a conversation with fashion week founder Fern Mallis a few days after the show as part of an ongoing series of designer interviews, Wang, who is separated from her husband, denied having an affair with Lysacek.
"I'm his mentor, his true mentor," Wang said. "I hope for his ongoing life after sports."
