    This Week's Hot Headlines

Where to eat now and Dallas YP prowess top 5 most popular stories this week

    Jennifer Chininis
    Jan 10, 2015 | 9:02 am

Editor’s note: Another week has come and gone, and there’s a lot we all probably missed. But we’re looking out for you, kid. Here are the most popular stories from this past week:

    1. Meet the Dallasites deemed worthy of Forbes’ prominent 30 Under 30 list. Forbes’ annual 30 Under 30 list — primarily designed to make you feel bad about your station in life — is out for 2015, and three Dallasites are on it. Brennan Potts, Shama Hyder and Hunter Pond were among the more than 600 twentysomethings celebrated across 20 categories, ranging from food to healthcare to education to finance.

    2. Where to eat in Dallas right now: 10 hot restaurants with female chefs. Women are a growing force in the food and beverage industry, and Dallas has never had a shortage, thanks to chefs such as Sharon Hage and Joanne Bondy and entrepreneurs such as Paula Lambert and Meaders Ozarow. For this edition of Where to Eat, we gave a nod to some of the local restaurants that’ve opened recently or are emerging where female chefs are calling the shots.

    3. See Bradley Cooper in the flesh at local American Sniper benefit screening. Plano gets a shot of Hollywood glamour when the Cinemark theater at Parker Road and the Tollway hosts a benefit screening of American Sniper on January 14, featuring an appearance by the film’s star, Bradley Cooper, who plays Iraq war veteran Chris Kyle. Tickets are $250 and up for the event, which benefits the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation.

    4. These Dallas businesses started by young professionals blow us away. We revisited some of the Dallas startups founded by young professionals that we featured in the last year — in case you missed them the first time around, or if, like us, you enjoy reminiscing. From an app that revolutionized valet parking to a social club that helps people find their niche, these companies run the gamut, but they all help make living here great.

    5. Inside smokin’ new Dallas honky-tonk Henderson Avenue Country Club. As anticipated, Henderson Avenue Country Club opened this week, and what a rare thing that is in the restaurant-bar world, to be on time with an opening. When we stopped by, managing partners Martin Corboy and Tim McEvilly were putting the finishing touches on a space they renovated themselves.
