    Tory Burch feels the love with classic collection that showcases new monogram logo

    It's a good thing that Tory Burch premiered her fall collection on Valentine's Day, because it's all about love. From the hot chocolate cups emblazoned with a big red heart and the words "Love Conquers All" in the lobby of the Whitney Museum of American Art, where the runway show took place, to the book of love poems on each seat, Burch was in a romantic mood.

    It showed in the collection, which offered a nod to the classic movie The Philadelphia Story, starring Katharine Hepburn, James Stewart, and Cary Grant. In her program notes, Burch, a Philadelphia native, says she found inspiration in "the fearlessness and irreverence" of Hepburn's character and set out to combine the actress' "outdoor glamour" with a "confident femininity."

    In the 1940 comedy about a socialite whose wedding plans are complicated by the simultaneous arrival of her ex-husband and a tabloid magazine journalist, Hepburn was dressed by MGM costume designer Adrian in a revolutionary way.

    She wore pants, which was shocking for the times; a gown-like robe; and evening gowns that offered "a perfect combination of soft and strong — almost an armour for the character to wear while she does battle with the men in her life as well as her own emotions," according to the website GlamAmor. And Adrian added a touch of gilt with gold buttons, straps, flaps, and other techniques.

    Burch opened the collection with a series of outfits in winter white, including fluffy jackets decorated with gold buttons and a robe-like coat with a new gold monogram TB logo that showed up throughout the collection on pants, tie blouses, and shirt pockets. It's different from the popular double T logo currently on flats and sweater buttons and is destined, no doubt, to be popular among Burch's many fans.

    An outdoorsy quality was reflected in Fair Isle sweaters paired with Main Line-plaid wide-legged trousers or corduroy skirts, while dresses, blouses, and skirts in a silk ballerina print or chintz florals were feminine daytime options. For evening, a navy jumpsuit with rhinestones circling the waist and embellished gowns added a touch of Hollywood glamour.

    And it wouldn't be a Burch collection without some terrific accessories, including men's briefcases and a pendant necklace inspired by her father's cigarette lighter.

    2 new shops join lineup at Firewheel Town Center in Garland

    Two new retailers are joining the lineup at Firewheel Town Center, the outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment destination in Garland on the corner of the President George Bush Tollway and HW 78.

    Both sell shoes.

    Vans: Vans is a brand of footwear, apparel, and accessories known for its association with skate and street culture. They feature a signature waffle rubber sole for grip and durability, and often a minimalist, canvas upper for breathability and comfort.

    Founded in southern California in 1966, Vans champions authenticity, creativity, and a rebellious spirit, and is popular among skaters, artists, musicians, and young people globally.

    There are currently eight Vans locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area including NorthPark, Galleria Dallas, Mesquite, Allen Outlet Mall, Stonebriar in Frisco, Grand Prairie Outlet Mall, Grapevine Mills, Arlington, Northeast Mall in Hurst, Tanger Outlets Mall in Fort Worth, and Hulen Mall in Fort Worth.

    The Firewheel location will open in November 2025, located next to Buckle.

    Tradehome Shoes: For more than 100 years, Midwestern shoppers have relied on Tradehome Shoes for their footwear. They offer a complete line-up of footwear for everyone and for every need, with brand names like Adidas, New Balance, Dansko, Minnetonka Moccasin, and Steve Madden.

    Their name originated from the idea of "Trading-at-Home," encouraging shoppers to support (trade) in their local communities (home). Based in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, just southeast of Minneapolis, they're 100 percent employee-owned, and have impact programs like giving shoes to schools.

    They also sell some clothing and accessories, from hats and T-shirts to hoodies and sweatshirts, mostly for training, lounging, or everyday wear.

    There are currently three locations in the DFW area: Frisco, Arlington, and Fort Worth.

    The Firewheel Town Center location is open now next to Old Navy, and will feature shoes for every season, occasion, and lifestyle, along with apparel from brands like RIVAL and UNRL.
