Where to shop in Dallas right now: 8 must-hit stores for March

Rachael Abrams

It's official: The Dallas Design District isn't just for the trade anymore, with two new open-to-the-public showrooms. This month we've also got our credit cards ready for Swiss timepieces, French fashion, modern and vintage home furnishings, and the West Coast style that just invaded the Joule Dallas.

Adriana Hoyos
Luxurious furniture made with colored woods, earthy tones and exotic materials reflect Adriana Hoyos' refined Latin American sensibility. There are three showrooms in the United States — in Miami; Dania Beach, Florida; and, now, the Dallas Design District. Hoyos has designed for esteemed hoteliers such as Trump, Swissotel, Marriott, Hilton and Starwood.

Dior
Highland Park Village ups the ante yet again with a new Dior boutique set to open March 23. (We may start calling HP Village the Rodeo Drive of Dallas.) The French fashion house designs simply exquisite and timeless haute couture and ready-to-wear — including entrance-making evening gowns — as well as luxurious leather goods and statement jewelry and accessories.

Hublot
The fine Swiss watch company fuses quality with functionality. The first Hublot boutique in Texas is set to open at NorthPark Center this week, featuring a wide range of luxury timepieces, including iconic, innovative designs made with metal and rubber. Hublot joins other luxury timepiece brands Omega and Tag Heuer, which opened in NorthPark late last year.

I.O. Metro
Opening March 21 at McKinney Avenue, I.O. Metro features modern and eclectic furnishings, art and home accessories at prices you can afford. Many are sustainably made and built in America; just look for the Eco-Metro and Made in the USA icons. I.O. Metro makes it easy to furnish every room in the house, from all the major furniture pieces down to the throw pillows and home fragrance.

Pebble + Pine
Owner Nick Griffin is a PGA Class A professional, and his boutique in the Bishop Arts District pays homage to the all-American, golf-loving man. Pebble + Pine stocks carryall bags, cocktail shakers, gingham ties, button-downs, golf shoes and waxed cotton lacing, belts, golf balls, and a variety of golf-focused books — all made in America. Pebble + Pine also offers private golf instructions at Stevens Park Golf Course, taught by Griffin himself.

Pummer-Winchester
Claus Pummer creates sleek, chemical-free furniture for the modern home. At the Pummer-Winchester showroom, shop for contemporary indoor and outdoor furnishings, lighting, and accessories with European flair. Pummer also is a holistic sleep coach; he represents Samina sleep system and strives to put an end to those restless nights.

Traffic Los Angeles
With its selection of cutting-edge fashions, Traffic LA is a Hollywood favorite. This month, owners Sara and Mike Moldovan brought that West Coast style to the ever-expanding Joule Dallas, and the men's store is stocked with the same avante garde designers as the original: Rick Owens, Comme des Garcons, Dolce & Gabbana and D Squared.

Vieux
We've got a soft spot for midcentury modern furniture, and Vieux owners Achlee and Nick Wise offer an awesome collection of vintage home furnishings, from credenzas and highboys to tulip tables and art. The Richardson shop also has a small selection of vintage clothing and accessories, including Carlos Falchi clutches.

I.O. Metro opens March 21 in the Knox-Henderson neighborhood.

Prom Closet

Biggest prom dress drive in DFW begins collecting donations for 2026

The 17th annual St. Andrew Prom Closet at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano will invite teens to "shop" for their dream dresses in February. But first they need those dresses.

Organizers have begun accepting donations of formal dresses (sizes 0-30), jewelry, shoes, handbags, and wraps. They'd like to offer thousands of dress options for teens to take home at no cost.

“We’re calling on our community to help make prom dreams come true by donating dresses and accessories,” says Kathy Moore, organizer of the event, in a release. “Start the New Year by cleaning out your closet and bringing us your gently used dresses, shoes, jewelry, and handbags."

New items can also be purchased through their Amazon Shopping Link.

"Each year, we rely on the generosity of individuals, local groups, and businesses to make every girl’s experience truly magical,” she says.

Items should be cleaned and "like new" (as if they were being taken to a picky resale store).

They may be dropped off at St. Andrew, 1401 Mira Vista Blvd., Plano, just inside the church’s north entry doors, on a designated dress rack. Drop-off hours are 8:30 am-8:30 pm Monday-Thursday and 9 am-12 noon Saturday.

Volunteers needed
In addition to needing donations, organizers also need hundreds of volunteers to help run Prom Closet, from check-in and check-out, to personal shoppers, dressing room assistants, and set-up and tear-down crew members. Volunteers must be adults and must complete a background check. Sign up here beginning January 26.

A service of the Women of St. Andrew Methodist Church, Prom Closet allows teens the chance to "shop for" free dresses, shoes, and accessories in a boutique-style setting, complete with a (volunteer) personal shopper.

The event has grown from assisting 35 teen girls when it started in 2009 to 1,323 girls from 322 schools and 110 school districts last year. The girls come from all over Texas and as far away as Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri, and exchange students from France, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, and Thailand.

Shopping details
The 2026 shopping event will take place February 24-28 and March 2-5 & 7 at St. Andrew Methodist Church.

It is open to any high school girl from anywhere, no questions asked, but shoppers must register online beginning January 26 to book an appointment. There are 40 shopping slots per each 90-minute time frame. A few rules:

  • Shopping is by appointment only.
  • Each student must be present to shop for her own dress and accessories.
  • Each shopper is allowed to bring along just one guest, age 16 or older.
"For the St. Andrew Methodist Women, the Prom Closet truly is a year-round labor of love,” says the Rev. Arthur Jones, senior pastor of St. Andrew. “What began as a small outreach has grown into a remarkable ministry that blesses more than 1,300 young women and their families each year. The dedication of these women — and the many volunteers who join them — goes far beyond organizing dresses. They create an environment where every girl feels loved, valued, and beautiful."

Visit the event's website, call the Prom Closet informational hotline at 469-385-1810, or email standrewpromcloset@gmail.com for more information about donations, volunteering, shopping, and more.
