Lunch with Attitude
What: Wilkinson Center Can Do Luncheon 2016
Where: Dallas Country Club
The 411: Event chair Sara Albert welcomed Dallasites to this powerful luncheon that has become a staple on the spring charity circuit. While enjoying Can Do Soup and a hearty lunch, guests heard from Wilkinson Center executive director Anne Reeder, who introduced this year's video explaining the mission of the organization. The Can Do awards presentation followed, and this year's honors went to North Texas Food Bank; Regina Montoya, chair of the Mayor's Task Force on Poverty; and two Wilkinson Center clients, Marilu Rodriguez and Christina Parks. Karla Nivens, worship leader for Cornerstone at Highland Park Methodist Church, sang an impressive closing song, with the help of pianist Dante Andrade.
The luncheon, now in its fourth year, raises crucial funds to help Wilkinson Center in its capacity as a leading poverty rescue and prevention agency for the working poor in Dallas.
