Airbnb just released its report detailing the most desired properties in the 50 Texas cities in which it operates. The report was compiled from the site’s wish list function, which allows users to bookmark from more than 30,000 rentals when planning upcoming trips.
The top listing in Dallas is this boho treehouse, tucked away in Little Forest Hills. The two-bedroom, two-bath retreat blends "Bauhaus contemporary with warm rustic elegance," says the listing, and includes amenities such as a fireplace, private entrance, free parking, and Wi-Fi. The getaway offers quiet respite without sacrificing access to shopping, nightlife, and world-class restaurants.
Location is one of the top selling points in large cities like Dallas, Houston, and Austin. But the reasons for each listing’s popularity are as varied as the locations on the list. In coastal areas, proximity to the beach is the main selling point, with most of the most sought-after listings along the Gulf being a mile or less from the ocean.
In more rural areas, Airbnb users are looking to get off the grid, as in a solar-powered adobe tiny house near Big Bend National Park or a Spring farmhouse nestled in a 3-acre farm and orchard.
In the Texas Hill Country, users gravitate towards properties in natural settings, such as a light-filled cabin close to Hamilton Pool in Dripping Springs, a funky Wimberley charmer on the banks of the Blanco River, and a converted barn in San Marcos complete with an indoor garden.
Of course, affordability is also important. In smaller towns, you can score a coveted Airbnb for as low as $32. In bigger cities, the rentals offer luxury accommodations and a convenient location for far less than the nightly rate of a top-tier hotel.
