Editor’s note: Another week has come and gone, and there’s a lot we all probably missed. But we’re looking out for you, kid. Here are the most popular stories from this past week:
1. Tony Romo retires Dallas-area bachelor pad that wife Candice fabulously restyled. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and his wife, Candice, are unloading their home at 1608 Dowling Dr. in Irving. It was once his bachelor pad, but Candice put her pretty stamp all over it, and now someone can benefit from her hard work.
2. Dallas taco shop deemed one of America’s 50 best new restaurants. Four Texas restaurants — including one in Dallas — were included in Bon Appetit’s list of America’s 50 best new restaurants for 2016. Casual taco joint Trompo, at 839 Singleton Blvd., with its simple-but-surreal tacos, is the lone DFW winner.
3. Help these midcentury purists save prized kitchen cabinets from Dallas teardown. A new cache of midcentury stainless steel cabinets has surfaced, from a Dallas house that’s about to be mowed down. The home, at 6469 Sondra Dr., has a unique history.
4. From the looks of it, Omni Frisco at Cowboys headquarters will be a great party hotel. Omni Hotels & Resorts has released some new renderings of its upcoming property at Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters in Frisco, and it’s going to be a sweet party pad, i.e., lots of pretty people lounging by the pool, drinking cocktails, before they get cleaned up to have dinner at Neighborhood Services.
5. Storied downtown Dallas hotel unveils splashy new rooftop feature. The Adolphus hotel has unveiled a new rooftop pool and bar on the seventh floor, with views of downtown Dallas. Pool Adolphus has six private cabanas and lounge chairs that are semi-submerged in the pool. At night it transforms into a scene, complete with fire pit and cocktails.
