Two Dallas nurses who contracted Ebola while caring for Thomas Eric Duncan at Texas Health Presbyterian in Dallas are being transferred to more experienced hospitals for care.
Amber Vinson has already arrived at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. CBS DFW reports that Nina Pham will be taken to National Institutes of Health in Maryland on October 16.
The news comes on the heels of allegations that Texas Health Presbyterian failed to properly protect nurses and other hospital employees caring for Duncan. The first Ebola patient in the U.S., Duncan died at the hospital on October 8.
In a statement, Texas Health Presbyterian denied a slew of the accusations, including that Duncan sat in the ER waiting room for hours with other patients. "He was moved directly to a private room and placed in isolation," the hospital said.
There has also been criticism of the CDC, which allowed Vinson to fly commercially even though she was being monitored for Ebola and reported a low-grade fever. She tested positive for Ebola on October 14 — the day after boarding a flight from Cleveland to Dallas.
The CDC is working to contact all 132 passengers from Frontier Airlines flight 1143.
