This Week's Hot Headlines
All the Dallas restaurant news you can eat and more of this week's popular stories
Editor’s note: Another week has come and gone, and there’s a lot we all probably missed. But we’re looking out for you, kid. Here are the most popular stories from this past week:
1. New Dallas taqueria hits big time with famous rocker server. It's not every day that the opening of a Dallas restaurant becomes national news, but new Lake Highlands restaurant Resident Taqueria was written up by a number of showbiz sites over the weekend, thanks to the contributions of a celebrity server. Dallas native Annie Clark, who performs under the moniker St. Vincent, helped out the restaurant on its opening weekend, clearing tables, refilling napkin dispensers, and other humdrum waiterly chores.
2. Aurora 2015: 13 must-see moments at transformative Dallas Arts District experience. In advance of Aurora returning to the Arts District on October 16, we spoke with co-founder Shane Pennington, who gave us a rundown of what visitors had to put on their must-see lists. Even if you missed it, you can get a feel for its impact on the Dallas arts scene with this roundup.
3. Trendy chicken chain and pho join the roster at Richardson's hottest complex. The geometrically expanding CityLine complex in Richardson has announced three exciting new restaurants, including a pho place and a trendy chicken sandwich chain. Drumroll, please: The restaurants are Super Chix, Pho Is for Lovers, and Piada Italian Street Food.
4. Ex-Wolfgang Puck crew plies Polish pastry at new Flower Mound restaurant. A new restaurant opening in Flower Mound will bring a Polish pastry often craved but rarely found in Dallas. The restaurant is called The Table, and the pastry is the pierogi. The Table will open at 3701 Justin Rd. on October 20, serving lunch and dinner.
5. Acclaimed Deep Ellum noodle shop joins parade to historic Carrollton. Deep Ellum's critically acclaimed noodle shop, Monkey King Noodle, will open a second branch in an ultra-happening 'burb to the north: Carrollton. The restaurant has signed a lease at 1309 S. Broadway. That's right next-door to the Carrollton branch of Cane Rosso, the also critically acclaimed Neapolitan pizzeria whose first branch was also in Deep Ellum. Do we now have permission to say that Carrollton is the new Deep Ellum?
