What: Dallas Film Society presents fifth annual Art of Film with Marisa Tomei
The 411: Film enthusiasts filled the Perot Museum for a celebratory night when the Dallas Film Society welcomed Marisa Tomei to its fifth annual fundraising gala. Despite a small hiccup — Tomei arrived more than an hour late — she proved to be an exceptional replacement for original honoree Toni Collette. Guests began the evening with cocktails (always an adequate time killer) then made their way into the venue to witness a candid conversation between Tomei and NY Times and Fort Worth Star-Telegram film critic Elvis Mitchell. Tomei is best known for her role as Mona Lisa Vito in My Cousin Vinny, for which she received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Proceeds from the evening, which also included a seated dinner, help fund year-round programming of the Dallas Film Society.
