Charity Challenge takes the lead on this week's 5 most popular stories

Anna Fialho Byers
Dec 10, 2016 | 10:00 am

Editor’s note: Another week has come and gone, and there’s a lot we all probably missed. But we’re looking out for you, kid. Here are the most popular stories from this past week:

1. Who will be CultureMap’s 2017 charity partner? That’s up to you. CultureMap Charity Challenge is back, which means you have work to do: Vote in this poll for your favorite of these 12 young professionals organizations to determine which one will become our 2017 charity partner.

2. Longtime Dallas breakfast favorite takes Benedicts to the 'burbs. One of Dallas' original breakfast restaurants is opening a second branch after more than 30 years in business. Benedict's, which boasts a unique connection to Denver, is opening a location in Plano, at Parkwood Boulevard, near the intersection of the Dallas North Tollway and 121.

3. Greenville Avenue restaurant Remedy undergoes radical change. In big restaurant news, homey Greenville Avenue soda-fountain restaurant Remedy will close for good on December 31. That gives you only 25 more days to get your mom-style fish-wich, burger, and bologna sandwich.

4. East Dallas’ favorite new lounge sprouts shop with rock-and-roll roots. A cool new shop with a rock-and-roll legacy tis now open in East Dallas. Called the Good Pagoda, it's located at 9026 Garland Rd. — right next door to its equally glorious sibling Lounge Here.

5. Proximity to White Rock Lake is just one perk of updated Dallas home. Perched high on a hill, 428 Edgelake Dr. in Lake Highlands Estates is just northeast of White Rock, providing pretty vistas of a lush greenbelt and easy access to walking and biking trails around the lake. But that’s not all there is to love about this property.

Texas Rangers go all in on free bobbleheads for fans during 2026 season

Among the bobbleheads given away by the Texas Rangers in 2026 will be the Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez baseball card bobblehead.

Going to the ballpark in 2026 will be rewarding for Texas Rangers fans, as the team will give away a club-record 16 bobbleheads, among other items, during the season.

In total, there will be 38 promotional dates during the 2026 regular season at Globe Life Field in Arlington, with 16 wearable items and six additional collectibles joining the bobbleheads.

Among the bobbleheads being doled out will be one made out to look like an Iván “Pudge” Rodríguez Baseball Card, as well as two featuring pitcher Nathan Eovaldi, six other player options, and, of course, Grogu (aka Baby Yoda), timed to come out just after the release of the new film, The Mandalorian & Grogu.

There will also be two giveaways honoring the toughness of Nolan Ryan during his four-season stint with the Rangers to end his career.

The first will be the Nolan Ryan Bloody Lip Jersey (complete with fake blood stains) on May 29, commemorating the time when he finished a game despite getting hit by a bouncer from Bo Jackson.

The other features an even more famous moment, Nolan Ryan's pummeling of Robin Ventura. The Nolan Ryan Brawl Bobblehead will be given out on July 20.

Other notable items include a Whataburger Trucker Hat, America 250 Jersey on July 4, "All For Texas" hockey and basketball jerseys, a Choctaw Stadium Radio, and an “I Like Texas” Limited Edition Vinyl Record.

Nearly all promotional item giveaways during the 2026 season will be limited to the first 10,000 fans. Two promotions will have larger quantities: the 2026 Magnetic Schedule, available to the first 30,000 fans at the club’s home opener on April 3, and the Nolan Ryan Bloody Lip Jersey, which will given to all fans.

The Rangers will also host more than 60 Theme and Community Nights throughout the season, with themes including the comic strip Peanuts, Power Rangers, Barbie, Harry Potter, Leon Bridges and more.

Individual tickets to all 2026 regular-season home games at Globe Life Field, excluding the club’s home opener on April 3, are available now at rangers.com/tickets.

A limited number of 10-Game Theme Night Plans will be available through February 18.
