    This Week's Hot Headlines

Dallas New Year's Eve revelry rings in this week's 5 most popular stories

    Anna Fialho Byers
    Dec 31, 2016 | 10:00 am

Editor’s note: Another week has come and gone, and there’s a lot we all probably missed. But we’re looking out for you, kid. Here are the most popular stories from this past week:

    1. These are the best ways to party on New Year's Eve in Dallas-Fort Worth. Whether you had a good or bad year in 2016, the dawn of 2017 brings the promise of a fresh start. End the year with a bang by taking in one of the best New Year's Eve events in Dallas-Fort Worth, most of which encompass more than just drinking, dancing, and counting down until midnight.

    2. Days are numbered for this Greenville Avenue chef's restaurant. Greenville Avenue suffered another restaurant loss with the closure of Clark Food & Wine, the chef-driven bistro from Randall and Courtney Warder. The last day of operation was December 27, which means no more smoked catfish dip with Saltines.

    3. The 16 best-dressed Dallasites of 2016 impressed more than the rest. As 2016 draws to a close, we are reflecting on Dallas' most exclusive social events and the outfits that are forever embedded in our minds — from traditional to anything but. These best-dressed Dallasites stole the show before it started and had us talking long after it was over.

    4. These Dallas-Fort Worth bars are open for you on Christmas Day 2016. This list doesn't even need an introduction. It's the holidays. Many people confined together in small rooms. People you haven't seen in a while. People you deliberately moved away from. We're restraining ourselves from typing these words in all caps: You need a drink.

    5. This is how much a starter home will cost you in Dallas. As real estate prices rise across the United States, buying a home has become more competitive than ever, and as more inventory moves off the market, historically affordable markets have become slightly less affordable. In certain areas, starter homes in particular are becoming non-existent, but in Texas, starter home prices are rising despite regular inventory levels.

The band Train will come to Dos Equis Pavilion on August 15, 2026

Pop rock band Train will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their breakthrough album, 2001's Drops of Jupiter, on a 2026 tour that will include a stop at Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas on August 15.

The Drops of Jupiter: 25 Years in The Atmosphere Tour kicks off on July 8 in West Palm Beach, Florida, making its way around the U.S. and Canada before wrapping up at the end of August in Washington state.

In addition to Dallas, Train will play in Houston suburb The Woodlands on on August 14. They will joined by Barenaked Ladies and Matt Nathanson at all stops.

Each tour stop will feature Train playing their most well-known hits like “Hey, Soul Sister,” “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me),” "Drive-By," "Play That Song," and more.

To coincide with the 25th anniversary, the band is set to release new music in spring 2026.

Drops of Jupiter was the first of six albums to make the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. Overall, Train has released 11 albums over 27 years, most recently AM Gold in 2022.

Fans can sign up now at SaveMeSanFrancisco.com/tour to gain first access to the artist presale for most dates beginning on Tuesday, November 11 at 12 pm.

Additional presales, including one for Citi cardholders, will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning on Friday, November 14 at 10 am.
