Performing Arts Fort Worth Lineup
The Grinch, I Love Lucy and American Idiot light up Bass Hall stage this season
Performing Arts Fort Worth, which hosts a variety of arts and entertainment events at Bass Performance Hall, has revealed the schedule for its upcoming 2013-2014 season, and it has a little something for everyone.
The group brings no fewer than 10 Broadway shows to Panther City. Among the offerings new to the area are Ghost the Musical,I Love Lucy Live on Stage and Nice Work If You Can Get It, all of which have premiered nationally in the last couple of years. How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical and Jersey Boys each make Fort Worth premieres, while Blue Man Group and Stomp both make return engagements.
American Idiot is also coming as part of the Broadway Specials series, but unlike the other shows, if you blink you'll miss it. The Green Day musical plays for one night only on March 19, 2014, as compared to the relatively leisurely 10-day stay it enjoyed at Winspear Opera House in Dallas in 2012.
Families won't be left out in the cold; in addition to the exploits of the Grinch, they get to choose from Mark Nizer 4D, a juggling show; Frogz! Presented by Imago Theatre, featuring unique acrobatics; and a one-day-only presentation of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
Music and comedy also fall under the purview of Performing Arts Fort Worth, and they're hosting a few big names you won't want to miss. Bands like Buena Vista Social Club and the Doobie Brothers will rock Bass Hall patrons, while Lewis Black, David Sedaris and Bob Newhart will tickle their funny bones.
Season tickets for the Broadway at the Bass Series, Broadway off Bass at McDavid Studio Series and Family Series at the Bass go on sale on Friday, July 12. Individual tickets for the Broadway Specials series, which includes Blue Man Group, American Idiot, Menopause the Musical and Spank! The Fifty Shades Parody, and all of the music and comedy shows, go on sale at the same time.
