RIP Seth
Seth Davidow, co-founder of Dallas art gallery Site131, dies at 58
Dallas' art world has suffered a tragic loss: Seth Carlin Davidow, who co-founded Dallas Design District gallery Site131, died on June 16, from complications related to Amyotrophi Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease); he was 58.
Born on July 7, 1965 in Jacksonville, Florida, Davidow was a businessman and father who possessed a deep appreciation for the arts - leading him to cofound Site131 with his mother, art curator Joan Davidow. Located at 131 Payne St., the gallery became a platform for artists to share their visions and inspire the community.
A farewell provided by the gallery notes that Seth established two successful auto parts businesses, in which he dedicated countless hours to collecting, organizing, and reselling used parts.
In addition, Seth was also a professional racecar driver who competed in events such as the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA.
He was also involved with the American Joint Distribution Committee, Dallas Jewish Federation, American Israel Public Affairs Committee, The Legacy Senior Communities, and the Dallas Young Entrepreneurs.
He's survived by his two daughters, Joelle and Shayna; their mother Marni; his mother Joan Davidow and her husband Stuart Glass; his brother Malcolm and his wife Melany Trudeau, and their children Gabrielle and Ari. He is preceded in death by his father Stanley Davidow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Seth Davidow Family Youth Endowment Fund at Temple Emanu-El in Dallas.
