Whoop for the Aggies: Texas A&M named happiest campus in America
Proving that the Aggies can’t stop winning, the Daily Beast recently crowned Texas A&M as the happiest college in the United States for 2013.
A&M earned the happiest distinction thanks to its full-time freshman retention rate and College Prowler’s student ratings for overall experience. The two factors in College Prowler are the quality of the student health center, and whether given the chance, students would still choose the same university again.
Not surprisingly, Texas A&M scored highly with overall student experience and whether they would choose to be an Aggie all over again, posting a perfect 10 out of 10 for experience and 9.8 out of 10 for doing it again. The health center scored a respectable 9.3 out of 10 and the retention rate held at 92 percent.
The University of Texas at Austin also made the list, placing No. 9. Its 92 percent retention rate is on par with A&M’s, and the health center was rated slightly higher at 9.5 percent, but it seems the overall happiness is down a bit. Longhorns scored a 9.7 out of 10 on the subjects of overall happiness and if they'd choose UT again given the chance.
Stanford and the University of Wisconsin rounded out the top three after Texas A&M while Brown University earned No. 20 — the only Ivy League college to make the list.
