This Dallas suburb tops list of America's best places to find a job in 2018
With the new year come new job opportunities, and two Texas cities are among WalletHub's best in the United States to find a job in 2018, including one in our own backyard.
The financial website compared more than 180 cities using 26 key metrics to determine the strongest local job markets in the U.S. Factors taken into account range from job opportunities to employment growth to monthly average starting salary.
Plano takes top honors in the state, coming in as the No. 6 best place in the U.S. to find a job, with a total score of 64.69, a job market rank of No. 6, and a socio-economics rank of No. 16. The Dallas neighbor ranks third in the U.S. for highest median annual incomeat $83,952 and fourth for most affordable housing.
Austin claims the No. 11 spot, with a total score of 62.29, a job market rank of No. 12, and a socio-economics rank of No. 25. Notably, Austin ties for first place for lowest unemployment rate. Adjusted for the cost of living, the median annual income in the state capital is $63,019.
Other top North Texas cities to find a job include Irving, No. 23; Grand Prairie, No. 38; Garland, No. 48; and Dallas, No. 49. Job prospects elsewhere in Texas aren't as strong. San Antonio appears at No. 59, followed by Fort Worth at No. 87 and Houston down at No. 120.
Arizona dominates the top of the list, with four of the five best cities for jobs: Chandler (1), Scottsdale (2), Peoria (4), and Gilbert (5). San Francisco is third.
