Celeb-endorsed fitness craze hits Victory Park with neighborhood's first gym
Victory Park gets its first fitness facility this month, but it’s no ordinary gym: It’s CrossFit, beloved by celebrities such as Brad Pit, Channing Tatum, Elizabeth Banks and Cameron Diaz.
Legacy Fitness, which also owns the North Plano CrossFit, will open the 3,000-square-foot Victory Park CrossFit at 2312 Victory Park Ln., by Olivella’s Neo Pizza. It will offer beginner, intermediate and advanced classes at a variety of times throughout the day: 6 am, noon, 5 pm and 6 pm, plus a Saturday class at 10 am.
CrossFit emphasizes high-intensity interval training and community. Co-owners and coaches Ozzie Kalil, Jeff Reinhardt, Kahle Lewis and Ryan Southern believe the key is not just to provide the best workout but also help establish human connections between members, for support and accountability.
“Anyone can do it, regardless of their fitness level,” Southern said in a release. “Our community comes from all walks of life and all levels of fitness; we encourage our athletes to celebrate every victory – sometimes that can be simply finishing the workout of the day.”
Experience it for yourself at the grand opening celebration on Saturday, April 18, with a free workout starting at 10 am. Snap Kitchen and Medina Oven & Bar will provide food, and there will be raffle drawings for prizes such as free classes and CrossFit apparel.
The first 50 members who join can lock in a $150-per-month membership for life. Otherwise monthly memberships start at $195, and and drop-ins are $25 per class.
There is a lot happening at Victory Park these days. In addition to an office tower and numerous residential projects and street improvements, new and coming-soon businesses include Jimmy John’s, Buzzbrews, Read Between the Lines stationery store and Simply Elegant floral design.
