George W. Bush expected home soon after successful heart surgery in Dallas
Former president George W. Bush is said to be resting comfortably after undergoing successful heart surgery August 6 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
On August 5, during Bush's annual exam at Cooper Clinic in Dallas, doctors discovered a blocked artery and recommended an operation to receive a stent. Bush, 67, is an avid bike rider and generally thought to be in good health.
Bush's spokesperson Freddy Ford released a statement saying the former president would leave the hospital August 7 and return to his home in Dallas.
The procedure was performed successfully this morning, without complication, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. President Bush is in high spirits, eager to return home tomorrow and resume his normal schedule on Thursday.
He is grateful to the skilled medical professionals who have cared for him. He thanks his family, friends, and fellow citizens for their prayers and well wishes. And he encourages us all to get our regular check-ups.
