Dallas couple’s dream wedding turns into best holiday party ever
Jess Dudley and Alex Prescott met the old-fashioned way: They were set up — sort of. Jess’ former boss sent Alex an email and blind copied her. They bumped into each other a few weeks later and commented about the awkwardness of that email.
But they started seeing each other after that and dated for three years before Alex proposed at Dr. Delphinium, on the way to a family dinner. He got down on one knee, in front of a wall of yellow roses, her favorite. They wed on July 3, 2016, in front of 375 people at Omni Dallas Hotel downtown.
“I wanted a modern classic wedding,” Jess says. And she wanted the chuppah to have that wow factor, so it was done entirely in flowers. “The stemmed floral going down the aisle went from dark pink to white and was repurposed on the head table to create an ombré effect, with dark pinks at the ends meeting with white in the middle,” she adds.
Floral played an equally important role in the ballroom, at the reception. “Because the room is large, and the walls are gray, I made sure the room felt warm, so I used bright colors — pinks and greens — in my floral,” Jess says. “To create the modern feel, we also brought in mirrored bar facades with gold bar backs.”
Because it was a holiday weekend, Jess and Alex wanted to be sure that their guests had the best possible time. “A confetti cannon went off to the song ‘Shout,’ and the band played all night. We passed out Jesscott hats, light sticks, and glow necklaces. After the wedding, the party continued in another room, with late-night bites and a DJ to keep everyone dancing and drinking until 2 am.”
As any guest can attest, the reception was every bit the party the couple dreamed of.
