Professional boxer seriously injured after flipping Ferrari in Dallas
Professional boxer and welterweight champion Errol Spence, Jr. was seriously injured in a car accident in Dallas in the early morning hours of October 10.
According to police reports, on October 10 at 2:53 am, a white Ferrari was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound in the 500 block of South Riverfront Boulevard.
The Ferrari veered left over the center median onto the southbound lanes and flipped multiple times, ejecting the driver who was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver was Spence Jr., 29, who was taken to an area hospital. He remains in ICU but is expected to live.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash. CBS 11 has photos of the totaled Ferrari, and video of the accident taken from the security camera of a nearby business.
That part of Riverfront is right beneath the freeway exchange of I-35 and I-30.
Spence, a welterweight champion who has been a professional since 2012, lives in DeSoto. His most recent fight was in Los Angeles on September 28, when he won a split decision against Shawn Porter.
Porter tweeted about the accident, saying that he was praying that Spence Jr would recover "quickly & fully."
