Unexplained Death
Mysterious death at Katy Trail in Dallas leaves more questions than answers
UPDATE: Although police have always referred to this incident as a Katy Trail death, area residents are refuting the exact location. A neighbor who came across the crime scene while walking his dogs says the body was positioned on a walking path in Reverchon Park just north of Katy Trail proper.

A 50-year-old woman was found dead on the Katy Trail around 7:30 am December 29. The body has been identified as Christie Pennington of Kemp, Texas.
Her body, which was in the 3300 block of Maple Avenue, did not exhibit any physical trauma. Police said there were signs of a medical event and have listed the death as unexplained, though homicide detectives continue to investigate. Pennington's cause of death is pending with the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office.
Police say Pennington's car, a 2012 white Chevrolet sedan, was parked nearby. Interestingly, a .38-caliber handgun and holster, six rounds of ammunition, a pink stun gun and $100 in cash were listed among Pennington's property in the police report.
Dallas police spokesman officer Juan Fernandez says because the investigation into Pennington's death is ongoing, the department is unable to comment further on the case.
