On January 27, Bruce Springsteen announced that Dallas would be his only stop in Texas on his current tour. One day later, Coldplay one-ups the Boss, making Dallas-Fort Worth the only stop in the entire South when it comes to AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Saturday, August 27, as part of the A Head Full Of Dreams Tour.

The acclaimed British rock band is touring to celebrate its 2015 release, A Head Full of Dreams, which singer Chris Martin describes as a "restrained, intimate album." It's the band’s first world tour since the 2011/12 Mylo Xyloto Tour.

It's also their first-ever U.S. stadium tour, with only seven cities listed so far, starting on July 16 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Other cities include Chicago; Boston; Philadelphia; Los Angeles; and Santa Clara, California.

The announcement comes just ahead of Coldplay's highly anticipated appearance at halftime at Super Bowl 50. They're rumored to be joined by Beyoncé, who performed at halftime in 2013, and Bruno Mars, who took on the same duties in 2014.

Martin also has a TV appearance booked, as part of the "Carpool Karaoke" segment on CBS' The Late Late Show with James Corden, to air the week of February 1.

Tickets for the tour go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 5. A fan pre-sale begins at 10 am on Friday, January 29, on Ticketmaster.

To be fair, the announcement does say that these are the first U.S. dates the band is announcing, so it's possible more will be added at some point in the future. But for now, Coldplay fans in the South will have to come to Arlington if they want to see their favorite band in person.
