Classic rock acts headline Dallas radio team Bo and Jim's big bash
For the sixth year in a row, classic rock station Lonestar 92.5 FM is bringing back the Bo and Jim Bash, taking place on August 18 at Starplex Pavilion with a lineup that includes Foreigner, Cheap Trick, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience, and Stone Cold Sweat featuring Bo and Jim.
"We call it the Bo and Jim Bash because we’re going to bash you right in the head with a rock 'n' roll right cross!" says Bo Roberts, one-half of the Bo & Jim Morning duo. Bo Roberts and Jim White are the longtime morning team; for 35 years, they've been waking people up in Dallas-Fort Worth with comedy antics and characters.
The radio show date will be one stop on a worldwide tour for Foreigner, joined by Cheap Trick and special guest Jason Bonham on the U.S. dates.
To coincide with the tour, Rhino will release a 40th-anniversary album culling 40 tracks throughout the years, entitled 40 – Forty Hits From Forty Years. 40, get it? This album is a compilation of original hits and several tracks from the current lineup with Kelly Hansen on vocals including "Can't Slow Down," "Too Late," and "When It Comes To Love."
The album also features two new songs: "The Flame Still Burns" and "Give My Life For Love," a brand new song by Jones. Rhino is kicking off a year-long catalog promotion with the January 24th picture disc release of Head Games.
Last year's Bo and Jim Bash was at the Verizon Theater and was headlined by Boston. Patrick Davis, programming VP for iHeartMedia Dallas, which is Lonestar 92.5's parent company, says its one of his favorite events of the year. "The guys invite bands they have played on the radio for years to enjoy a great night out with thousands of their closest friends," he says.
Don Davis, program director for 92.5, reminds us that Foreigner is coming off a sold-out show last month in Dallas. "And we have been after Cheap Trick since year one, so to say we are excited about this line up would be an understatement," he says. He's also enthused about Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience and Bo and Jim’s Stone Cold Sweat.
