When gyms across Texas reopen on May 18, Dallas-based Gold’s Gym International will welcome members back at fewer locations. Hammered by the novel coronavirus pandemic, Gold's Gym has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and permanently shut down 32 company-owned locations, including three in the Dallas area.
2. New retro-cool Airstream resort rolls in near Dallas for social distance staycations. Dreams of an Airstream quarantine are coming true with the opening of The Range Vintage Trailer Resort in Bristol, about 35 minutes southeast of Dallas. The retro resort features 15 open sites for trailer hook-up and six renovated Airstreams and vintage trailers to rent.
3. Judge orders high-profile Dallas restaurant to allow employee to wear face mask. A worker at a high-profile restaurant in Dallas is now allowed to wear a face mask to work after a state judge intervened. "Jane Doe," an employee of Hillstone Restaurant Group, which owns Houston's and R+D Kitchen, had filed a petition challenging a company policy that forbade employees to wear masks. The judge's new order allowing employees to wear masks went into effect for 14 days.
