Folk rockers Mumford & Sons have had to postpone their Tuesday, June 11 concert at Gexa Energy Pavilion, along with dates in The Woodlands on June 12 and New Orleans on June 13, after bassist Ted Dwane was hospitalized on Monday. Dwane was diagnosed with a blood clot on his brain that will require surgery; the band expects him to make a swift recovery.
The postponement is the latest in a string of high-profile delays or cancelations the Dallas area has seen in 2013:
- Rihanna fell ill in April, forcing her American Airlines Center concert to be pushed until November.
- Morrissey canceled not once but twice, finally ditching his whole tour due to a bleeding ulcer.
- Barry Manilow came down with bronchitis right before his May concert at Verizon Theatre at Grand Prairie; he'll come back on June 28.
- Mike Tyson was supposed to bring his one-man show to Verizon Theatre in February but canceled that date and a host of others due to poor ticket sales.
Mumford & Sons promises that the three concerts will be made up at some point in the near future, and that all tickets will be honored. They have a nice gap in their schedule in August, as does Gexa Energy Pavilion, so maybe they still will be one of the 10 must-see Dallas summer concerts.
