SXSW Music 2014 releases first batch of acts to perform at Austin fest
The South by Southwest Music Festival (and Conference!) recently released the first round of performers it has lined up for the 2014 fest. The list is heavy on Austin- and Austin-connected acts, including (NSFW) CHRISTEENE, Amy Cook, Ume, Grace London, Boyfrndz and Feathers.
We also spotted international DJ sensation and former Austinite Jonathan Toubin, who seems to have recovered nicely — incredibly — from a near-fatal freak accident in Portland, Oregon, a few years ago.
The international mélange we have come to expect from the festival is also present, with Mexico’s Atomix, Spain’s Lost Tapes and — yes! — The Lene Lovich Band from London among the many overseas acts in the mix. The Black Watch, Kyle Andrews and Los Lonely Boys are some of the stateside faves on the list.
Also, apparently Rodney Crowell now lives in Crosby, Texas.
The festival also released a list of conference sessions scheduled so far. They include “Come on, Get Appy” and “Has Metal Lost Its Edge?” (Hmm, what do you think?)
The SXSW Music Festival and Conference takes place March 11-16, 2014. You can find the list of performers here.
