Barbie movie party continues with amphitheater concert tour coming to Dallas
Barbie was the highest-grossing movie of 2023, and Mattel is looking to capitalize on that popularity with Barbie The Movie: In Concert, a live-to-film concert experience tour that will include a stop at Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas on Saturday, August 3.
The tour will start in Tampa, Florida, traveling to 37 cities before wrapping up on August 18 in Wantagh, New York. Two Texas cities made the cut on the tour; in addition to Dallas, it will also go to The Woodlands on August 2.
Produced by Overture Global Entertainment, the concert will bring Mattel Film’s first theatrical production to life with live music from The Barbie Land Sinfonietta, a special presentation from Orchestrator and Executive Producer Macy Schmidt’s all-women and majority women-of-color orchestra.
The film will be projected onto a giant LED screen as the Sinfonietta performs the film’s score by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. Promising a "one-of-a-kind immersive experience," the tour will also feature specialty limited-edition merchandise, photo opportunities, and more.
In addition to the all-women orchestra, Barbie The Movie: In Concert will include a touring road crew consisting of a veteran lineup of all-women technical and production professionals.
Barbie is nominated for eight Oscars at the 96th annual Academy Awards, to be held on Sunday, March 10. Two of those nominations are for Best Song - "I'm Just Ken," sung by Ryan Gosling, and "What Was I Made For?" by Billie Eilish.
Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets beginning on March 5 at 10 am through the Citi Entertainment program. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning on Friday, March 8 at 10 am via ticketmaster.com.
