Meow Wolf in Grapevine seeks artists for trashy new fashion show event
Buzzy Meow Wolf, the immersive art house at Grapevine Mills, is hosting a trashy fashion show and soliciting artists who want to play.
Called “Trashion Show,” it's a fashion show centered around trash and it will take place on July 11, showcasing works made from recycled materials, with the intention of demonstrating the potential of repurposed trash.
The theme of the show will be "Celebrate," and designers are encouraged to interpret in the most unconventional ways, breathing new life into discarded materials.
“The Trashion Show is a testament to our commitment to fostering eco-conscious artistry and pushing the boundaries of immersive experiences,” general manager Kelly Schwartz says in a release. “The Real Unreal’s guests will witness the transformative power of trash on the runway, as it unfolds into profound works of wearable art.”
They're currently soliciting artists who can apply online. The deadline to apply is April 21, and applicants will know if they’ve been chosen by April 29.
Artist applications will be judged on criteria such as creativity, interpretation of the theme, and the potential for performative storytelling.
Applicants must be 18 years or older. Designers are responsible for providing their own models, hair, and makeup. Teams are welcome to apply, but only three team members, including the model, will be allowed on-site the day of the show. Compensation will be provided as a lump sum per team.
The Trashion Show will take place on July 11 at 6 pm, for 21+ only. Tickets are $55 and go on sale on Friday, April 12 online. They'll also allow access to Meow Wolf's regular "The Real Unreal" ongoing exhibit.
