Get ready for a double shot of American-made goods. Shinola's handcrafted watches, bicycles, leather goods, fashion and accessories are hitting Plano on May 18, in a store that will also house Shinola's sister shop, Willys Detroit.
This is the first Texas outpost for the Detroit-based company, which also has stores in New York, London, Los Angeles, Chicago, D.C., Minneapolis and, of course, Motor City. Shinola had its local debut at Steven Alan on Knox Street in the fall of 2013. The brand's parent company, Bedrock Manufacturing LLC, is based in Plano.
Founded on the belief that products should be built to last, Shinola constructs its wares with the aim of preserving the craft of handmade goods. From journals to pet accessories, handsome watches to leather bags, and even bicycles that mix urban style with everyday practicality, the selection reflects the desires of today's shoppers with the durability of classic construction. Willys Detroit focuses on a variety of fashion, home and apothecary brands.
The newest Shinola shop is located at 1039 E. 15th St., within strolling distance of popular downtown Plano eateries Vickery Park and Urban Crust.
The Gomelsky 36mm with moon dial tracks lunar phases and features a wide-eyed case, coin-edge bezel and Detroit-built Argonite 708 movement. ($600)
