New spaces, new places
Park Cities children's boutique packs up to move from 25-year-old spot
A favorite Dallas children's boutique is growing up and leaving the nest. KidBiz and TheBiz is relocating from its 25-year-old store in The Plaza at Preston Center to a larger space at Inwood Village.
The move will take place in September, and a grand opening event will mark the occasion, store personnel say.
KidBiz owners Janet and Jay Finegold say they selected Inwood Village “because of its location and mix of tenants.” They were attracted to the fact that Inwood Village is marked by mainly individually owned stores, local restaurants and boutiques, they say.
“Inwood Village is a natural selection for us," Jay Finegold says in a release. "Many of our customers from the Park Cities and North Dallas already spend time there because of the number of local businesses they support. Inwood Village has that small-town, friendly vibe that is in keeping with the Kidbiz brand. Janet and I are both excited and energized by this move.”
The new store will have a fresh look and feel, the owners say. Designed by Dallas’ renowned Coeval Studio, the new, larger boutique will have high ceilings and modern color schemes. A new layout will make it easier for shoppers to navigate the merchandise, they say.
The new location also will include a Jon Hart store-within-a-store concept, to be called “Jon Hart Shop at The Biz.” They will continue to sell the same mix of designers — including Ralph Lauren, True Religion, Ella Moss, and Free People — and will be adding new brands once the store opens, the owners say.
KidBiz was started in 1989 by a former couture buyer for Neiman Marcus. The Finegolds purchased the 1,200-square-foot Park Cities boutique and expanded it in the mid-'90s. They then opened TheBiz, selling apparel for teenage girls and young adults, to accompany KidBiz for little ones.
The store's new address will be 5370 W. Lovers Lane, Suite 314, Dallas.
