Chanel Invades Fair Park
Fair Park to feel the fashion love when Chanel brings Metiers d'Art to Dallas
Chanel has revealed the location for its 2013/14 Metiers d’Art runway show on December 10 titled “Paris: Dallas”: Fair Park. Preceding the fashion show, spectators will watch the premiere of The Return, a short film written and directed by Karl Lagerfeld.
The fashion house calls Fair Park “a historical exhibition venue with art deco architecture that is situated in the heart of the city.” Well, that’s certainly true. And perhaps an event of this magnitude — and international significance — will finally give Fair Park the attention it deserves beyond the once-a-year State Fair.
The hearts of Dallas fashion fans skipped a beat this past January, when Karl Lagerfeld spilled the beans to Women’s Wear Daily that he would be bringing his renowned show to Dallas, a city he loves:
I love Texas. I love Texans. There’s another reason. When Chanel reopened, the French press was beyond nasty. The only press that understood it immediately was the American press, and Neiman Marcus gave her the Oscar for her collection, so I think it’s a nice thing to go there.
The Return (teaser above) is the follow-up to Once Upon a Time, in which Lagerfeld explored Gabrielle Chanel’s early days in Deauville in 1913. The Return retraces her footsteps to the reopening of her couture house in 1954 in Paris and the importance of the role that the United States played in this comeback.
Geraldine Chaplin stars as Gabrielle Chanel, alongside Rupert Everett, Anna Mouglalis, Lady Amanda Harlech, Arielle Dombasle and Kati Nescher. In addition to its Dallas showtime at 6:30 pm, the film will premiere simultaneously on Chanel.com.
