The May edition of Where to Shop, our monthly column highlighting new stores and shopping experiences, includes high-end shops, bargain spots, and limited-edition time-sensitive shopping experiences happening this week. Don't delay or you'll miss out.

Buckle
Denim specialty retailer has relocated within NorthPark Center to the upper level near Neiman Marcus. Buckle has become a destination for trending tops, shoes, accessories, and, of course, jeans, with styles from top national brands like Free People, Sorel, Levi’s, White Crow, Rock Revival, Heydude, Oakley, Hurley, Hidden, Billabong, Ray-Ban, and more. Buckle also offers a unique selection of styles you can’t find anywhere else from its private-label brands like BKE, Buckle Black, Outpost Makers, Gimmicks, Willow & Root, and Departwest.

Heydude
Casual footwear brand now open at Grand Prairie Premium Outlets offers comfy, airy, and light “slipper-like” shoes that are tried-and-trues. Located in Suite 915 near Sketchers and Columbia.

Deseri
Black-woman owned luxury handbag brand created and owned by UT Dallas alumna and Dallas native Deseri Kelley just opened at Galleria Dallas on Level 1 near Gucci, Gregory's, and Tommy Bahama, with a line of clutches, totes, wallets, regular handbags, and jewelry.

Fan Outfitters
Fan apparel store at Grand Prairie Premium Outlets features sports gear for your favorite team and league, including Custom Lids, a design-your-own hat. In addition, Fan Outfitters offers high-end collectibles and everyday gear for all sports fans. Located in Suite 410 across from Bloomingdale’s.

Miss A
Makeup lovers are invited to shop the latest beauty trends and purchase the newest must-have beauty essentials at Miss A, the beauty retailer newly opened at Firewheel Town Center in Garland, where customers can indulge in beauty looks while not breaking the bank. Located at between Aeropostale and Victoria’s Secret.

Grunt Style
New store at Grand Prairie Premium Outlets sells patriotic apparel. Located in Suite 121 next to Lacoste.

Columbia Clearance Store
Shop clearance items and styles including outerwear, sportswear, footwear, and accessories for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels at this new store at Grand Prairie Premium Outlets Mall. Located in Suite 200 across from GUESS.

Salvation Army Fashion Show After-Sale
Free and open-to-the-public charity shopping event is happening May 10-11, from 10 am-3 pm at 9216 Harry Hines Blvd. Attendees can snag designer deals at discounted prices while supporting programs for those in need in North Texas. Women’s and men’s clothing in all sizes, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and accessories plus new children's clothing will be refreshed throughout the day, with brands including J.Crew, Chicos, BCBG, and Lululemon, as well as treasures from Milly, Tory Burch, and Lafayette 148.

Burger joint's WhataStore has gifts for Mom, including the Whataburger 40-oz. tumbler, a French fry or flying W straw topper, and a “To Go” backpack designed to look like one of Whataburger’s take-out bags, but made from tear-resistant TYVEK, with an inside liner, snap closure, and adjustable backpack straps. Plus James Avery-designed "fancy" and "spicy" ketchup charms for charm bracelets. To guarantee delivery by Mother's Day the deadline to order is May 7, but orders can still be placed until May 10.

Eiseman Jewels NorthPark Center
Two special trunk shows will take place featuring the latest collections from designers Lika Behar and FOP. Lika Behar’s newest collections will be in store May 9-10 from 10 am-5 pm. Inspired by her hometown of Istanbul, Behar’s collection uses 24 Karat gold infused with gemstones. On May 10-11, it will be jewelry from Italian designer Fope, known for using gold mesh chain.

Time to gather up dressy-dress donations for 2025 Prom Closet in Plano

Prom Closet is expected to provide more than 1,000 girls their dream prom dresses in 2025.

One of the biggest prom dress drives in Dallas-Fort Worth is ready to commence: The 16th annual St. Andrew Prom Closetwill open its doors in late February at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano. But first they need to fill it.

Organizers are now accepting donations of formal dresses (sizes 0-30), jewelry, shoes, handbags, and wraps. They'd like to offer more than 4,000 dresses for teens to take home at no cost.

“This month we begin asking for the community’s help in providing donations of dresses and accessories,” says Devra Helffrich, a founder of the St. Andrew Prom Closet, in a release. “Each year, we depend on donations from individuals, local groups, and businesses to provide the many items needed to complete each girl’s prom ensemble.”

Items should be cleaned and "like new" (as if they were being taken to a picky resale store).

They may be dropped off at St. Andrew, 1401 Mira Vista Blvd., Plano, just inside the church’s north entry doors, on a designated dress rack. Drop-off hours are 8:30 am-8:30 pm Monday-Thursday and 9 am-12 pm Saturday. (Note: When coming to the north entrance, park in the large north parking lot off Mira Vista and look for the covered walkway and sign on the building.)

No fancy frocks or snazzy shoes to donate? They also have an option to purchase items through their Amazon shopping link. Donations will be shipped directly to the church.

Volunteers needed
In addition to needing donations, organizers also need about 500 volunteers to help run Prom Closet, from check-in and check-out, to personal shoppers, dressing room assistants, and set-up and tear-down crew members. Volunteers must be adults and must complete a background check. Sign up here beginning January 23.

A service of the Women of St. Andrew Methodist Church, Prom Closet allows teens the chance to "shop for" free dresses, shoes, and accessories in a boutique-style setting, complete with a (volunteer) personal shopper.

The event has grown from assisting 35 teen girls when it started in 2009 to 1,073 girls from 213 schools and 103 school districts last year. The girls come from all over Texas and as far away as Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri.

"The Waco Children’s Home made three separate trips to bring girls to the Prom Closet because the van could not hold everyone that wanted to come at one time. Every girl found a dress," organizers say in the release. "Another favorite story is about a young woman who had been nominated for prom queen but could not afford a dress to attend. She found the perfect dress at Prom Closet and had a night she will always treasure."

Shopping details
The 2025 shopping event will take place February 18-20 & 22 and February 24-March 1 in a new location this year: The Students’ Area, St. Andrew Methodist Church, 1401 Mira Vista Blvd., Plano 75093.

It is open to any high school girl from anywhere, no questions asked, but shoppers must register online beginning January 23 to book an appointment. There are 35 shopping slots per each 90-minute time frame. A few rules:

Shopping is by appointment only.
Each student must be present to shop for her own dress.
Each shopper is allowed to bring along just one guest, age 16 or older.
