Northeast discount chain BJ's Wholesale Club to open store in Mesquite

A new destination for discount shoppers has debuted in Mesquite: BJ’s Wholesale Club, a membership-based warehouse club making its way into Texas, will open a location in Mesquite at 4355 Childress Dr., on the southeast corner of US-30 and 635, in a 104,763-square-foot space that was previously a rolling green field.

According to a spokesperson, the store will open in early 2026.

No relation to the BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse chain, BJ’s offers value on everyday essentials in a convenient one-stop shop. Members save on fresh foods, produce, full-service deli items, bakery goods, household essentials, home décor, pet supplies, toys, consumer electronics, and more. BJ’s members enjoy the "treasure-hunt" shopping experience, discovering new and exciting items with each visit.

Current deals include a Samsung 55" AI Smart TV for $398; a box of 30 mixed candy bars — Kit Kat, Reese's, and Hershey's Chocolate Bars, full-size — for $29; a set of four Nordic Wear cookie baking pans for $20; and a NutriBullet personal smoothie maker for $50.

The Mesquite club will mark the company’s fifth location in Texas, joining Forney, Grand Prairie, Fort Worth, and Waxahachie.

The company previously announced plans to open 25-30 new clubs in its 2025 and 2026, including stores in Sumter, South Carolina; Springfield, Massachusetts; Casselberry, Florida; Selma, North Carolina; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Delray Beach, Florida.

“Our momentum remains strong as we continue to bring unbeatable value and convenience to new communities,” says BJ’s Wholesale Club executive VP Strategy and Development Bill Werner. “We’re on track to open our first clubs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2026 and look forward to bringing BJ’s Wholesale Club to even more families in 2026 and beyond.”

Headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts, BJ’s Wholesale Club was founded in 1984, pioneering the warehouse club model in New England with a membership setup similar to concepts like Costco and Sam's Club. It currently operates 257 clubs and 194 BJ's Gas locations in 21 states.

BJ’s has a long-standing commitment to the communities where it open stores. They've partnered with Feeding America and its network of food banks to provide more than 155 million meals for those in need. Once open, each new club will support a local food bank with regular donations of produce, meat and dairy products.

Swedish furniture fave IKEA reveals opening date for first Dallas store

The first IKEA store inside Dallas city limits is ready to open its doors: Called IKEA Dallas - University Park, the store will be located at The Shops at Park Lane (8080 Park Ln.), at US-75 and Park Lane. According to a release, it will open Wednesday, March 11.

The Swedish-born furniture company will say hallå to Dallas with some fanfare on March 11, beginning with giveaways, coffee, and cinnamon buns at 8 am, followed by remarks from VIPs at 9 am. Doors will open to customers starting at 10 am.

And yes, there will be meatballs, they promise.

At 63,000 square feet, the Dallas IKEA will be a smaller-format store than its suburban siblings, such as the Frisco location, which spans 310,000 square feet.

IKEA is on a journey to become more accessible, affordable, and convenient, with smaller "urban" stores that have a limited inventory of items sold on site: 3,200 articles, just 2,200 of which will be on display. (The full product range, including big items like beds and couches, can be ordered online for free store pickup or home delivery.)

“This new store is a great example of our commitment to making IKEA even more convenient and accessible," says Rob Olson, Interim CEO of IKEA U.S., in the release. "We’re excited to become part of this vibrant shopping district and look forward to meeting the needs of customers in the area."

The Park Lane store will be two levels and will include a unique As-is Department, featuring gently used and discontinued items to support more sustainable home furnishing choices, they say.

The store will also feature a full Swedish food experience, offering IKEA favorites like meatballs, plant balls, hot dogs, and veggie dogs to enjoy in‑store or at home.

IKEA is not the only new tenant at The Shops at Park Lane. The shopping center piggybacked on IKEA's announcement to share the additional debuts of Crème + Crepes, Connect Studio DFW, and Intuit Turbo Tax, all of which are now open.

Once IKEA debuts, it will be open 10 am-8 pm daily.
