Area 25, beloved Park Cities home consignment shop, has packed up its things and headed down the street to 4309 W. Lovers Ln., just one block past Celebration restaurant.
Owner Cheryl Lawrence kept her customers abreast of the changes on the Area 25 Facebook page. October 17, a message read: “Area 25’s new location opening is just around the corner. Stay tuned for updates via Facebook.”
According to owner Cheryl Lawrence, she and her staff were forced out of their old building due to a change in ownership. But she calls the situation a “blessing in disguise.”
A post November 12 declared that the new shop would open November 14, with “new inventory, new prices, new staff.”
Sounds like a change in strategy, no?
“We have opened a new discount outlet further down Lovers Lane, and we’re in the process of opening a larger store at the corner of Lovers and Inwood,” Lawrence said via e-mail.
So what prompted the move? According to Lawrence, she and her staff were forced out of their old building due to a change in ownership. But she calls the situation a “blessing in disguise.”
Area 25 made waves in the home and design community for its carefully curated vignettes and selection suitable for every pocketbook — despite the fact that its name was a nod to Highland Park’s position on a map.
The always-changing inventory runs from vintage to contemporary, including upholstered pieces and other seating to accent tables, lamps and accessories. Lawrence and team use their expertise in interior design and home staging to create a series of little rooms throughout the shop, helping customers visualize the pieces in their own homes.
